Tree Works

The following pages detail some of the tree work operations we undertake, giving you an idea of what could be carried out on your trees to manage them effectively within whichever landscape they are situated.

Points to consider when deciding on work to be carried out.

There are a number of general pointers that should be considered when deciding on management methods for your trees and the landscape in which they are situated.

  • Pruning trees when young (formative pruning) may reduce the need for major pruning operations in middle age and maturity
  • The type of pruning needed to manage middle aged and mature trees is frequently determined by their position in the landscape, the desired effect you want to achieve for that space, and the particular characteristics of your tree.
  • It is worth considering the removal of trees that need frequent major pruning and replacing them with a more appropriate species.
  • Any works that need to be carried out on trees with preservation orders (TPO) or on trees in conservation areas must be applied for in writing to the relevant local authority. We can tell you if a tree comes under either of these restrictions and apply for a permit to carry out the works for you.

ANY WORK CARRIED OUT ON PRESERVED TREES WITHOUT PERMISSION CAN INCUR HEAVY FINES.
