Crown Lifting
This operation involves the removal of lower branches, allowing more space and light beneath the tree. It has the effect of opening the surrounding space, making the most of the ground area in your garden and allowing room for planting or simply sitting beneath the tree.
This small lime tree was raised to 3 metres, primarily to give clear space and visibility along the adjacent footpath and road and also to aid mowing contractors working up to the base of the tree.
Selectively raising the lower branches of a tree’s crown to a desired height, and lightly cleaning off the lower branches, opens the tree out, making it more of a feature.
